Network Marketing - Get Prospecting Or Die!
Sounds a bit strong doesn't it?
But, it's true!
If you're not constantly marketing your business in one way, shape or form, your business is stagnating instead of growing. Even if you already have a certain amount of momentum, ceasing your marketing work even for a few days can put the brake on your business or even drive it backwards.
It's just as if you would put the sprinkler on your lawn once and see it turn all green and fresh and then forget to do it again and again. What happens? Your lawn starts to die.
So what is the definition of marketing your business?
Marketing your business means either having a supply of quality leads each day OR having your message ou there in order to create your own flow of top quality leads on a daily basis.
Consistency is the name of the game in network marketing. This is what creates momentum in your business.
Many marketers believe that momentum happens by recruiting a few people who are working flat out and getting good results. But that's not actually momentum because these people can "turn off their sprinklers" at any time and then you're back to square one. Many marketers who succeed in recruiting a few "big hitters" wind down their own prospecting efforts - mistakenly believing that they can ride on their coat tails.
What you need to be aiming for in your business is a degree of momentum which you couldn't stop even if you wanted to.
The way to achieve this is to continue your marketing efforts even when you do have some heavy hitters in your team already. Why slow down or stop when you can double, triple, or even quadruple your own momentum and consquently your income, too?
In this business you can't just stop and start at will. Your marketing messages need to be in the public domain each and every day so that people will find them and come to you when the time is right for them.
That means that if you are using advanced lead capture systems to generate leads, or you are buying leads, you need to work them on a daily basis so as to keep your funnel constantly topped up.
One of the most disspiriting things for a network marketer is not being able to sponsor sufficient new distributors each month. The main cause of this is because a lot of marketers generate or buy only very few leads each month and so they need each of these leads to sign up in order to hit their target for the month. Many of them say things like, "I'll buy xx leads and then if I manage to sign someone up I will buy some more".
This way of thinking is often known as the poverty mindset and it's not a great way to run your business.
It puts a lot of stress on you because it means you are under a constant mental strain - desperate to sign up every single lead. People join a network marketing business to make extra income or are currently in debt, in the hopes that this will solve all their problems.
The trouble is that the majority of folks who enter into network marketing or MLM have no idea about marketing, generating leads or sound business principles. They are given the old chestnut about "all you have to do is share" from their sponsor/upline (most of whom have no idea about solid marketing principles themselves) and they hope that a handful of leads or calls each week will secure them the fabled "big hitter" who will put them in clover and build up their downline automatically.
This is the main problem in this business - people with no idea recruiting others with no idea and using methods that have no chance of success and which turn off most people anyway.
However great your company or your product, if you don't know how to market them EFFECTIVELY on a constant basis to your target market, you can't win.
Network marketing is a sales business - a product or service must be sold before you can earn any money. It's not sharing or recommending or word of mouth advertising, it is sales and marketing.
The best thing about it is that even if you're not a salesperson - by learning how to market and position both yourself and your business, you can be so much more effective than using the typical sales ploys that are usually taught in network marketing.
The motto is, "People want to buy, but they hate being sold".
Don't be misled into thinking you can just go out and sponsor someone and think they will become a heavy hitter if you yourself aren't able to show them how it can be done.
